Weight Watchers Petits Pains review

I've just reviewed Weight Watchers bagels (here) but that wasn't the only bread product that I had in this month's hamper. There was also a pack of part-baked petits pains. The pack comes in two sealed pockets each containing two mini baguette-style bread rolls so you can cook half and keep the other half perfectly fresh until required.

The cooking instructions are really simple - you just sprinkle a bit of water over the top of the rolls and pop them in a pre-heated oven for ten minutes until they get lovely and golden brown and slightly crispy on the top.

The smell of freshly baked bread as they heat up is divine and they really do taste just like fresh bread out of the bread machine when they're warm. If you want freshly-cooked bread to serve at a dinner party that looks a bit posher than badly-sliced bread from the bread machine, these are ideal ! You'd never know that they are Weight Watchers either - they taste just like non-diet-friendly bread rolls so the whole family loved them.

Each petit pain counts as 3 ProPoints which isn't bad at all, especially if you make it into an integral part of the main meal by stuffing it with a sausage as a hot dog or making a filled sandwich while the bread is still warm. Yummm ! But the true wonder of Weight Watchers is that nothing is forbidden fruit, so you can even have it with a scraping of butter that melts until it is divinely oozing salty butteriness everywhere, as long as you calculate the points and add it to your tracker. For those not on ProPoints, that corresponds to 111 calories, 0.5g of fat and 3.4g of fibre.

star rating : 5/5

RRP : 90p for 4 (only 60p at Tesco until 26/6)

Disclosure : I have been given a year's membership to Weight Watchers Online and receive monthly hampers of products in return for honest reviews.
