DGJ Organics King of Colour Shampoo & Conditioner review

Twitter is a fabulous tool for discovering new companies that would have stayed off the radar if it wasn't for one of your followers' random retweets. One such company that caught my eye a couple of months ago was DGJ Organics (@DGJOrganics), a name taken from the initials of Daniel Galvin Jnr, the man behind the label. Passionate about living an organic lifestyle, he has created his own  hair care range, using organic ingredients and professional designer salon know-how.

They kindly sent me through a duo of products from their King of Colour range - the Glossy Blondes Shampoo and Conditioner. That means Sophie got to be chief tester because she's the only one with blonde hair in the family.

The first thing I liked was the bottles. They look sleek, as if they've come out of a hair salon, and the sunshine yellow colour is guaranteed to put you in a good mood. The flip lids are really convenient too - why do some haircare companies still insist on using screw-on lids ?!

The shampoo and conditioner keep on the yellow theme with a pleasant pale yellow colour. The fragrance is lovely - a mixture of lemon peel and chamomile - great for unwinding after a stressful day at work. Sophie has inherited my incredibly thick, rather coarse hair which has a tendency to be dry. The shampoo didn't dry her hair out (unlike some) and the conditioner made it lovely and sleek and tangle-free. It did make her hair glossy but I'm not sure it actually highlighted the blonde-ness any more than our regular brands of haircare. These products do target colour-treated hair though, and nobody in the Madhouse has colour-treated hair to test it on.

In conclusion, it's a perfectly respectable shampoo and conditioner that we liked but weren't totally wowed by, although I do really like the organic label. Having looked around on the website though, there are some products that I think would have bowled us over more, such as the Wild & Crazy kids range with the fabulous-sounding banana & berry or watermelon fragrances and must-have products such as nit-repellent shampoo and detangling spray.
