Tommee Tippee toddler products review

When Tommee Tippee emailed me to ask if I'd like to review some products for them, I was about to reply to say sorry, my youngest is now a "big boy" of 3 so we've outgrown all that, then I noticed that they had some products targetting slightly older children too. Instead of baby products, they sent through some fabulous toddler things that Pierre, but also Juliette, have been thoroughly enjoying putting throught their paces.

First up was the Explora cutlery set. Pierre loves the bright colours and always looks through the cutlery drawer for them for ages when they're in the dishwasher ! Labelled the "first grown up cutlery set", they aim to promote "grown up feeding for little ones". They have a larger size than baby cutlery, half way between baby's first weaning cutlery and grown up cutlery, which is ideal for toddlers and small children who want to feed themselves with grown-up food. The plastic handles are comfortable to hold and lighter than metal cutlery. The knife doesn't have a serrated edge so doesn't cut much but the longer prongs of the fork make it easy to get food from plate to mouth.

Next up were these rather funky drinking cups which are the Active Sporty Cup model from the Explora range. Both Pierre and Juliette loved the colours and designs and found them really easy to drink from. I love the fact that they are totally leakproof and spill-proof, even if dropped on the floor, but are very easy to open and close with a simple (but highly effective) screw-on lid. They are slightly transparent so it's handy to see how much juice is left too.

We also received a rather impressive-looking Closer To Nature Digital Ear Thermometer. Now, I'm sure this is tempting fate to say this but everyone has been in perfect health since we received it so I haven't needed to use it yet. Looking at the specifications though (and taking our totally normal temperatures), it looks very efficient and useful. The LCD screen is very easy to read and it only takes one second to get a reading - great news with a squirmy baby. It also has a fever alarm to warn you when the temperature is too high, and it stores nine readings which is incredibly useful when you have a sick child and want to keep track of the evolution of their tempertaure. It has an automatic power-off which helps reduce the number of batteries you'll need and it comes with eight replacement hygiene covers. Now that the kids are older, I take their temperature much less often (unless they're really ill and feverish) but I know this would have been in constant use if I'd had it when they were babies.

I was ready to write off Tommee Tippee as a baby brand so I was really impressed that they have products that are totally adapted to older children too.
