a Schleich dinosaur figure !

Now I have to admit, I wasn't sure how warm a reception this one would get. Kids these days are introduced to all-singing all-dancing electronic toys and gadgets right from the day they are born so how impressed would they actually be with a plastic dinosaur ?

Well, 3-year-old Pierre was instantly intrigued by the hinged mouth which opens and closes and liked looking inside his mouth (because it looks quite realistic). He then started walking it up and down my arm and leg making roaring noises !

Juliette pointed out that Pierre should put it in his bucket, then he could be like his Harry And His Bucket Full Of Dinosaurs DVD ! The toy stands up really easily and doesn't keep falling over which is good, but I would have liked it to have jointed legs and arms (do dinosaurs have arms ? or they all legs ?) to enable more creative play.

I was impressed with the attention to detail - even more so when I learned that each figure is anatomically correct and hand painted. Pierre was too young to appreciate this though. He was just happy enough walking it around his bedroom making roaring noises !

So, plastic dinosaurs are still timeless classics, it would appear ! This would make a great stocking filler for any little boy (or any dinosaur-mad little girls, come to that !).

star rating : 4/5

RRP : £4.99

Disclosure : I received an Allosaurus (but I keep annoying the Madhouse Mini-testers by saying it's a D'youthinkhesaurus !) in order to write an honest review.
