Kids' DVD review : Prima Princessa Presents Sleeping Beauty

*** Don't miss my giveaway to win a copy of the DVD ! ***

You may remember a while ago, we reviewed the Prima Princessa Presents The Nutcracker DVD. Well, the next production has been released and this time it's focusing on Sleeping Beauty. I bet all little girls (and many boys), not to mention their parents, are totally familiar with the Disney-fied fairy story of Sleeping Beauty but how many actually know the ballet production?

Keeping exactly the same format that worked so well in the initial Nutcracker DVD,  Prima Princessa Presents The Sleeping Beauty features an exciting mix of real life ballet performances (performed by The Royal Ballet in London), cartoon fairy-princess-ballerina (with a British accent, if you're wondering) and step-by-step ballet demonstrations by students at the School of American Ballet for would-be ballerinas to join in with.

The DVD targets viewers aged 3-7 and Pierre and Juliette, right in the target age range, did really enjoy watching real children their age on a trip to the ballet and joining in copying the moves, but even big sister Sophie and the Madhouse grown-ups enjoyed watching to find out more about the ballet. After the dancing is over, the adventure continues with a magical tea party and fun floral crafts - I found watching the pirouetting preschoolers dressed in tutus and fairy wings very cute. Almost as cute as seeing Pierre and Juliette trying to copy the moves in fact !

The DVD lasts for an hour and there is so much going on that the Madhouse Mini-Testers sit (and jump and twirl !) through the whole thing every time we put it on.

If you like the sound of it, don't go away - I have a giveaway coming right up where you can win your very own copy of the DVD.
