Divine Christmas Chocolates review

I'm dreaming of a chocolatey Christmas ! Especially since Divine sent us through a selection of their scrummy festive offerings to sample.

I bet you can guess which one the Madhouse Mini-testers immediately reached for - yes, the chocolate money ! You can't have a Christmas stocking without a bag of chocolate coins in it and these were met with murmurs of approval. As a parent, I was pleased to see that the gold foil wasn't too hard to peel off and that the edges weren't too sharp either, which isn't always the case. We got the milk chocolate Gold Coins but you can also opt for dark chocolate Green & Red coins. (RRP £2 for 75g. Available from Booths, Oxfam, Liberty, the Divine online shop and independent retailers.)

While the kids were peeling open and munching on their chocolate loot, I opened up the very festive looking red box of Milk Chocolate Festive Shapes.

This reminded me of a grown-up advent calendar because in the pack, you only see the smooth chocolate backs and you have to guess what the shapes will be when you press them out of the packaging. We discovered a selection of festive classics, from candles and bells to stockings and Santas.

We loved the smooth chocolate taste and were impressed by their chunkiness too. (Available from Booths, the Divine online shop and independent retailers, RRP £3.50)

If you're a fan of white chocolate (as we are), you'll love the White Chocolate Christmas Stars. If you're not, don't panic, they're also available in milk and dark chocolate varieties. These are lovely to munch on straight from the box with a delicious creamy taste but they would also look fabulous on top of cupcakes or big chocolate cakes in the run up to Christmas. I had every intention of doing this but they disappeared before I got a look in ! (Available at Waitrose, Booths, the Divine online shop and independent retailers, RRP £4.)

All of Divine's Christmas products are certified Fairtrade, are free from artificial flavourings, colourings and preservatives and are suitable for vegetarians. Divine Chocolate Ltd is the only Fairtrade chocolate company that is also co-owned by cocoa farmers. Kuapa Kokoo, a co-operative of 80,000 cocoa farmers in Ghana, benefit not only from the Fairtrade premium on the sale of their beans, but also receive a 45% share of Divine's distributable profits giving the farmers more economic stability, as well as the increased influence in the cocoa industry company-ownership brings.

Disclosure : We received the products in order to write an honest review.
